Job summary

Banner Life Insurance Company is seeking an experienced actuary to join the valuation team. You will maintain technology-driven processes for reserves and financial reporting across Banner, William Penn, and captive reinsurance entities.

Work with data/tech teams to automate pipelines in Azure/Databricks, optimize valuation procedures, and support monthly closing. Remote EST role; ideally near Frederick, MD for collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years actuarial experience, life insurance or valuation preferred.
• 3+ years data/tech space with database administration and data querying (SQL, NoSQL).
• 1+ year programming with Python, R, or Spark; Git version control used.
• Experience implementing and maintaining modern cloud data solutions in AWS or Azure.

Responsibilities

• Maintain valuation processes and monthly reporting in the cloud.
• Transform data and ensure actuarial data pipelines stay functional.
• Develop and deploy backend changes to valuation processes for automation.
• Collaborate with modeling, finance, audit, and IT teams for downstream reporting.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing, including Maryland and New York DOIs.
