Job summary

Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of New York seeks a part-time instructor to develop and teach scheduled dance and visual arts production classes at COMPASS PS 132. You will produce events for major occasions and lead a youth production team, including recruitment and file maintenance.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED and is working toward an AA/BA degree, plus experience teaching youth and organizing tournaments. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned:

1. Responsible for developing and developing and teaching scheduled dance/visual arts production instruction classes at COMPASS PS 132

1. Producing events for major events

1. Organizing a youth production team presentations.

1. Recruitment.

1. Keeping and updating participant files.

1. Keeping daily attendance for all courses. Entering the weekly attendance on the DYCD online system.

1. Attend all weekly staff meetings.

1. Inform Program Director of changes or any irregularities.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a part-time position.

Working conditions and physical demandsrequired:

• Ability and patience to work with children and young people, recognizing their exuberance and juvenile behavior, particularly in group settings.

• Remain in a stationary position while monitoring activities.

• Move for long periods, providing instruction.

• Travel when taking field trips, using public transportation, traverse city streets, ascend/descend stairs, and be exposed to outside weather conditions, while escorting youth.

Qualifications:

Education and/or experience required:

• High School Diploma or GED, working towards AA or BA degree.

• Minimum attainment of a Black Belt Degree in a particular style with strong knowledge of Martial Arts

• Experience teaching and organizing tournaments and working with youth.

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
