Job summary

ARC Voyagers in Grove City, OH is seeking an Activity Specialist to provide individualized support, plan engaging activities, and promote skills for independence. You’ll work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with an hourly wage of $18.00, joining a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities build meaningful lives.

You will follow each person’s ISP, create meaningful experiences, and support community inclusion while maintaining safety and documentation

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centered support by following ISP goals and tailoring activities to individual interests.
• Plan and lead educational, recreational, social, and community activities.
• Teach daily living, social, and communication skills to promote independence.
• Support individuals in community participation and building relationships.
• Assist with personal care and daily living tasks as needed.
• Document progress and contribute to ISP updates and progress notes.

As an Activity Specialist, you’ll provide individualized support while creating meaningful experiences that help individuals reach their goals, explore their interests, and live life to the fullest. Here’s how you’ll make an impact:

• Provide personcentered support by following each individual’s ISP and tailoring support to their unique goals, abilities, interests, and needs.
• Create meaningful experiences by planning and leading educational, recreational, social, and communitybased activities that promote engagement and personal growth.
• Encourage independence by teaching and reinforcing daily living, social, communication, and other skills that help individuals achieve greater independence.
• Promote community inclusion by supporting individuals as they participate in community activities, build relationships, and explore new experiences.
• Provide personal care and daily support as needed, including assistance with daily living activities, mobility, and personal care.
• Build confidence and selfadvocacy by treating every individual with dignity and respect while encouraging them to make choices and advocate for themselves.
• Create a safe and supportive environment by following health, safety, PPE, infection control, and agency policies.
• Provide safe transportation using ARC Voyagers vehicles, including assisting individuals with entering and exiting vehicles and completing required safety checks.
• Document and communicate progress by accurately recording services, observations, and individual progress and providing input for ISP development and updates.
• Support vehicle readiness by completing routine cleaning and sanitizing and reporting maintenance or safety concerns.
• Make a lasting impact by helping individuals discover their strengths, try new things, build meaningful connections, and achieve greater independence.

• 21+ with a high school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to lift, bend, push, and pull up to 50 pounds

• Experience supporting individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required

Requirements:

• Must submit to a BCII/FBI background check and Nurses Aid & Abuser Registry checks.
• Maintain American Red Cross or equivalent first aid and CPR certification.
• Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and insurability standards.
• Complete eight hours of training as required by The Ohio Department of Developmental upon hire.
• Must pass a physical and drug screen
