Job summary

Continuing Healthcare Solutions in Ohio is seeking an Activity Director to plan, organize, develop, and direct the Activity Department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards and policies, ensuring an ongoing program that meets residents' physical, mental, and psychosocial well‑being.

The role requires licensure as a therapeutic recreation specialist or as an activities professional, or evidence of two years in a healthcare activities program, with leadership to supervise staff

Qualifications

• Must be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional who is licensed by this state and is eligible for certification as recreation specialist or as an activities professional.
• Two (2) years experience in a social or recreation program within the last five (5) years, one (1) of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting; or completion of a state-approved training course.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Activity Department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations.
• Meet the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.
• Supervise other personnel and collaborate with administrators to ensure quality resident care.
• Provide leadership and maintain a compassionate environment for residents and staff.
• Seek out new methods and principles to incorporate into activity services.

Experience and Skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions whencircumstances warrant such action.
• Must be knowledgeable of regulations governing activityservices in nursing care facilities. Must demonstrate theknowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate tothe age-related needs of the residents served.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel,residents, family members, visitors, governmentagencies/personnel and the general public.
• Must possess leadership ability and willingness to workharmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition andenthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based onwhatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
• Must possess the ability to seek out new methods andprinciples and be willing to incorporate them into existingactivity services.
• Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety ofother individuals in the workplace.
• Must be able to complete all other duties as assigned byadministrator or designee.

Qualifications:

• Must be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or anactivities professional who is licensed by this state and iseligible for certification as recreation specialist or as anactivities professional: or Must have, as a minimum, two (2)years experience in a social or recreation program within thelast five (5) years, one (1) of which was full-time in a patientactivities program in a health care setting; or Must havecompleted a training course approved by this state.
• Marketing experience is preferred
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand theEnglish language.

The primary purpose of this job position is to plan, organize,develop, and direct the overall operation of the ActivityDepartment in accordance with current federal, state, and localstandards, guidelines and regulations, or established policies andprocedures, and as may be directed by the Administrator and/orActivity consultant, to assure that an on-going program ofactivities is designed to meet, in accordance with thecomprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental,and psychosocial well-being of each resident.
