Job summary

Pediatric Specialty Care (PSC) at Philadelphia is seeking an Activity Assistant to plan and lead 1:1 and group activities, improving engagement for medically fragile children.

You will support community life programming on and off campus, adapting activities to each child’s abilities and building positive relationships with families and care teams. This role emphasizes energy, creativity, and compassion in daily pediatric care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited high school or GED.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Artistic background or prior instruction from a certified activity consultant.
  • Ability to lead group programs.
  • Previous experience in an activities department in long-term care or hospital setting.
  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English at intermediate or higher level.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, preparing, and leading 1:1 and group activities.
  • Support community life programming both on and off campus.
  • Adapt activities to meet each child’s physical and developmental abilities.
  • Encourage participation and build positive, supportive relationships.
  • Assist with ADL care as needed in accordance with care plans.
  • Document participation and engagement accurately and timely.
  • Support a safe, inclusive, and uplifting environment.
  • Collaborate with the Recreational Therapist and interdisciplinary team to ensure programming is purposeful and individualized.

What You’ll Do as an Activity Assistant with PSC:

  • You’ll collaborate closely with the Recreational Therapist and interdisciplinary team to ensure programming is purposeful and individualized.
Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in an activities department in long term care or hospital setting
  • This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
