Job summary

The Northbridge Companies in Farmington, CT is seeking an Activity Assistant to join our Engagement Team. This part-time role (18-20 hours weekly) supports the Engagement Director by planning and running activities that enhance residents' physical, social, and emotional well-being, with weekend coverage.

You will connect with seniors, organize trips, arts, exercise, and events, keep participation records, and help create a warm, inclusive community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Some coursework in recreation, gerontology, or related areas is a plus.
• Comfort with documenting and communicating using basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and run a variety of activities with the Engagement Director.
• Connect with residents to tailor activities to interests and abilities.
• Help plan trips outside the community and ensure safety and enjoyment.
• Create a warm, inclusive environment for residents to make friends and explore.
• Maintain records of participation and feedback to improve programs.
• Share new ideas to keep activities engaging for seniors.

Activity Assistant Job Summary

As an Activity Assistant, you'll work with the Engagement Director to make our residents' lives more enjoyable with fun and engaging activities. Your role involves creating experiences that cater to their physical, intellectual, and emotional well-being, making our community vibrant and lively.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the Engagement Director to plan and run a variety of activities, like exercise programs, interesting sessions, art projects, trips, spiritual gatherings, and events with speakers and music.
• Connect with residents personally, understanding what they like and need to make sure activities are enjoyable and meaningful.
• Help plan trips outside the community, organize details, and make sure residents are safe and happy.
• Create a warm and inclusive environment where residents can make friends and discover new interests.
• Keep records of resident participation and feedback to help improve our programs.
• Share creative ideas to keep our programs exciting and in line with what seniors like.

Qualifications:

• Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Some classes in recreation, gerontology, or related areas are a plus.
• Love connecting with seniors and naturally get along with them.
• Be creative and able to plan and lead activities that suit different interests and abilities.
• Organize things well and pay attention to details.
• Communicate effectively and be kind.
• Be flexible to work different shifts, including weekends and evenings.
• Know basic computer skills for documenting and communicating.
