Job summary

River Crossing Rehab and Healthcare Center is seeking an Activity Assistant to support planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational and social programs aligned with resident care plans.

The role emphasizes patience, enthusiasm, and a cheerful disposition to engage residents across activity types and to promote overall wellness. Prior LTC activities experience is preferred, with strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department is preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare activity rooms/areas for scheduled programs and advise supervisor on equipment and supplies.
• Clean up activity areas after programs.
• Follow care plans to provide daily activities for residents.
• Purchase department supplies, clothing, and personal items for residents.
• Supervise residents during activities to promote physical, social, and mental well-being; apply knowledge of residents' diagnoses and conditions.
• Assist residents in visiting, writing letters, running errands, and helping with crafts and projects.

Primary purpose of an Activity Assistant position is to assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs, in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisor.

Activities Assistant Duties Include

• Assist in preparing activity rooms/areas for scheduled activity programs. Recommend to your supervisor the equipment and supply needs of the activity department.
• Assist in cleaning up activity areas after completing activity functions.
• Follow the care plan in providing daily activities for resident.
• Purchase department supplies, clothing, and personal items for the residents.
• Oversee residents engaged in scheduled activities to promote the physical, social, and mental well-being of residents by applying experience in activities and knowledge of diagnoses and conditions of residents.
• Assists in-room residents by visiting with them, writing letters, running errands, and perform assistance with crafts, projects, etc., as necessary.

You will be great for our Activities team because you have

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department - preferred.
• Have patience, tact, cheerful disposition & enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
• Can read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
