Job summary

River Crossing Rehab and Healthcare center is seeking an Activity Assistant to support planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational and social programs aligned with resident care plans.

The role includes assisting in activity room setup, following care plans, purchasing supplies, and promoting residents’ well-being through engaging activities. Strong English skills and a compassionate attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department - preferred.
• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition & enthusiasm.
• Read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Able to move intermittently throughout the workday.

Responsibilities

• Prepare activity rooms for scheduled programs and recommend equipment/supply needs.
• Assist in cleaning activity areas after events.
• Follow care plan to provide daily resident activities.
• Purchase department supplies, clothing, and personal items for residents.
• Oversee residents in activities to promote physical, social, and mental well-being.
• Visit with in-room residents, help with crafts/projects, and run errands as needed.

The primary purpose of an Activity Assistant position is to assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs, in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisor.

Activities Assistant Duties Include:

• Assist in preparing activity rooms/areas for scheduled activity programs. Recommend to your supervisor the equipment and supply needs of the activity department.

• Assist in cleaning up activity areas after completing activity functions.

• Follow the care plan in providing daily activities for resident.

• Purchase department supplies, clothing, and personal items for the residents.

• Oversee residents engaged in scheduled activities to promote the physical, social, and mental well-being of residents by applying experience in activities and knowledge of diagnoses and conditions of residents.

• Assists in-room residents by visiting with them, writing letters, running errands, and perform assistance with crafts, projects, etc., as necessary.

You will be great for our Activities team because you have:

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department - preferred.

• Have patience, tact, cheerful disposition & enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.

• Can read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

• Able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
