Job summary

SMP Health - Ave Maria in Jamestown, ND is seeking an energetic Activity Assistant to support residents with engaging group and individual activities in a full-time role.

Responsibilities

SMP Health -Ave Maria is looking for an energetic/fun person to join our Activity Department full-time!

Full-time position to work 40 hours per week. Looking for an energetic and creative individual able to motivate residents to participate in activities. This position requires working 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, every fourth weekend and holiday, and one day per week working from 11:00 am until 7:30pm.

Essential Functions

• The Activity Assistant focuses on providing small and large group activities, along with one-to-one activities for residents to provide therapeutic interventions for meeting social and recreational needs. The incumbent assists with transportation of residents to activities as necessary to assure they are able to participate in their activity of choice.
• This position plans activities to carry out during work schedule and communicates them to the Activity Director to include in the monthly calendar. The Activity Assistant offers suggestions and attempts ongoing variations in planned activities to enhance the overall Activity Program.
• The Activity Assistant assesses residents for individual activity interests and/or preferences, works to provide programs in relation to those interests and encourages participation. The incumbent makes interests known to other staff and relates activity participation, interests and responses to Social Services. This position attends care conferences as assigned and completes activity assessments as required.
• This position communicates pertinent information to Social Services or Primary Nurse as it occurs during activity provision and reports any occurrences of behaviors or events that need to be part of the resident record. The incumbent assists in maintaining resident activity documentation.
• Performs safety and infection control procedures relating to wandering residents, fire, severe weather, universal precautions and safe operation of any equipment used. Attends mandated meetings to keep informed.
