Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living is seeking an Activity Assistant to support the Resident Programs team in delivering engaging, sensory-rich activities for residents. This part-time role (about 20 hours per week) requires transporting residents as needed and assisting the Program Director with daily events.

You will help plan, develop and run social, recreational, and educational activities, promote teamwork, and ensure a warm atmosphere.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college experience preferred but not required.
• Experience in a senior living environment strongly preferred.
• Two years of activities experience strongly preferred.
• Strong computer skills and general healthcare knowledge.
• Must have a clear and insurable driving record, valid driver’s license, and willingness to drive a passenger van.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Resident Program team with planning, developing, and preparing a variety of exercises, social, recreational and educational events.
• Conduct transportation as well as medical transportation for residents.
• Maintain knowledge of communities, services, and events in the area and incorporate into activity schedule as appropriate.
• Establish a warm and welcoming atmosphere for residents and staff.
• Promote teamwork and positive attitude among the staff and monitor/attend activities with other disciplines as necessary.
• Continually evaluate the quality and consistency of activities and make adjustments as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

The Activity Assistant assists the Resident Programs team in leading and executing the Resident programs for the community. Resident programs should encompass activities that engage all the senses and provide purposeful daily social and physical events that meet state requirements. The Activity Assistant carries out a specific set of tasks to fulfill the mission of the Resident Program Department. The Activity Assistant provides transportation when needed, provides support to the Program Director as needed and implements resident activities on a daily basis.

This is a Part‑time position with a varying schedule, working about 20 hours per week.

Qualifications

• A high school degree, additional college experience preferred but not required
