Job summary

Birchwood of Hamilton is seeking an Activity Assistant to provide engaging activities for residents in a skilled nursing setting. You will help promote psychosocial and emotional well-being through 1:1 and group activities, outings, and event support.

The role requires a State Tested Nurse Aide or eligibility, strong communication, and a genuine desire to work with seniors, staff and families. Full and part-time options with benefits are available.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to become a State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA).
• Willing to learn and communicates well with others.
• Desire to work with elderly residents, staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group and 1:1 activities to residents.
• Contribute to the activity calendar and tailor activities to resident needs.
• Conduct scheduled group and 1:1 activities.
• Attend outings and operate bus lift and equipment.
• Assist with resident meals and theme weeks.
• Document activity participation and assist with surveys.
• Support other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Facility is currently looking for a Full Time & Part Time ACTIVITY ASSISTANT . Come join our as an Activity Assistant at our state of the art, skilled nursing facility. The position provides activities to the facility residents with the goal to promote the psychosocial, spiritual and emotional well-being of residents, families and staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with other members of the Activity Department to provide individual, group and 1:1 activities, which are essential to the total wellbeing of our Residents.
• Provides insight with the activity calendar and provides activities to meet the needs of the residents
• Conducts all scheduled groups and individual activities.
• Attends outings – operates bus lift and all other bus equipment.
• Attends Team Member meetings as needed
• Assists with Resident meals (serve/feed).
• Assists with Theme Weeks and special events.
• Documents activity participation attendance for all groups and individual activities
• Assist with Customer Service Surveys.
• All other duties specified by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be (or must be eligible to become) State Tested Nurse Aide to allow more active participation with activity delivery
• Willing to learn and communicates well with others
• Has a sincere desire to work with elderly and enjoys working directly with residents, staff and families.
