Job summary

Wharton-Nursing-and-Rehabilitation-Center is seeking an Activity Aide to support the Activity Director in planning, coordinating, and directing residents' activity programs at the facility in Wharton, Texas.

You will collaborate with staff to organize events and ensure engaging, inclusive activities for residents with varying needs, including one-to-one support for bedfast residents and calendar development.

Qualifications

• A school diploma or its equivalent is preferred.
• Certified Nurse Aide is preferred.
• Experience in activity or recreational department in long-term care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate individual and group activities based on residents' needs.
• Ensure activities for both high and low functioning residents.
• Assist with scheduling beauty parlor and barber activities.
• Provide one-to-one activities for bedfast residents and document.
• Assist with monthly calendar preparation and posting in visible areas.
• Assist with generating the facility newsletter.
• Participate in community events related to facility interests.
• Attend in-services as necessary.
• Assist residents to and from activities.
• Assist with activity programs including Residents’ Council and night/weekend activities as needed.
• Deliver resident mail daily.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred

Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Activity Aide will be responsible for assisting the Activity Director in planning, coordinating, and directing the residents’ activity program.The Activity Aide collaborates with the Activity Director in organizing various employee and non-employee events for the facility.Essential FunctionsFacilitate both individual and group activities based on the individual needs of the residents.Ensure that activities are occurring for both high and low functioning residentsAssist with scheduling beauty parlor and barber activitiesProvide activities for residents that are bedfast and/or unable to participate in group activities (one to one) and document in the appropriate recordAssist with the preparation of monthly calendar and posting in an area accessible, highly visible and frequented by residents and visitors.
