Job summary

Thornton Care Center is seeking an Activities Specialist to assist in planning, implementing and evaluating recreational and social programs aligned with each resident's care plan. You will conduct group or one-to-one activities and keep activity spaces welcoming and organized.

Responsibilities include moving equipment, supporting residents during activities, and coordinating with the Activity Director to maintain calendars and comply with regulations.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of related healthcare experience preferred.
• Aptitude for and/or training in arts and crafts required.
• Commitment to delivering person-centered care with dignity and respect.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, implementing and evaluating activity programs per care plan.
• Conduct group or one-to-one activities according to the calendar.
• Move and arrange equipment to keep activity areas ready for sessions.
• Support residents in moving to and from activities as needed.
• Maintain tidy activity spaces and return materials promptly.

POSITION SUMMARY

Assists in the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreational social, intellectual emotional and spiritual programs in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Respects and upholds all residents' personal and property rights whenever carrying out duties, including knocking before entering a resident's room.


• Complies with all company and departmental policies and procedures.


• Assists and/or conducts assigned group or one-to-one activity programs according to calendar.


• Moves and arranges equipment/supplies to assure that activity areas are ready for scheduled activity.


• Assists residents move to and from activity programs as needed.


• Is responsible for returning all activity department materials to their proper place in a timely manner and maintaining a tidy, pleasant atmosphere in activity room.


• Assists Activity Director in developing schedule for activities, distributes monthly activity calendars to residents and posts changes to calendar according to state and federal regulations.


• Follows resident care plan in providing daily activities for residents.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years' experience in related position, in healthcare environment preferred


• Aptitude for and/or some training in arts and crafts required


• High school diploma or equivalent desirable
