Job summary

Woodland Care and Rehab Center is seeking an Activities Director to create engaging monthly activity calendars and coordinate programs for residents. You will plan events, work with volunteers, and ensure accurate documentation.

The role emphasizes interaction with residents and families, maintaining safety, and supporting marketing initiatives. The position requires strong teamwork, communication, and the ability to respond quickly in emergencies.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five years, one full-time in patient activities in healthcare.
• Missouri CNA license preferred.
• Experience with psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness.
• Ability to work cooperatively as a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop monthly calendar of activities; schedule, preplan and implement based on facility activity schedule.
• Photograph and submit activity results for special media pages.
• Plan and organize special activities, including marketing events.
• Coordinate volunteers from organizations to work with residents on interests.
• Prepare special snacks with residents; set up dining room tables for activities.
• Complete required logs and reports in a timely manner.
• Assist residents to and from common areas as per care plan; encourage participation.
• Perform concierge duties and support other departments as needed.
• Work weekends, holidays and evenings as required.

Essential Functionsof Activities Director:

• Develop monthly calendar of activities; schedule, preplan and implement based on facility activity schedule and socialization of residents

• Photograph and submit activity results for special media pages

• Plan and organize “special” activities for residents, including assisting with Marketing events

• Cultivate relationships with referral sources in an effort to generate sponsorship and donations for planned activities

• Coordinate volunteers form a variety of organizations and local groups to work with residents on special interests

• Prepare special snacks with residents

• Set-up the dining room tables for activities

• Clean up after all activities

• Complete required logs, charting and reporting in a timely manner

• Keep all activity areas clean, safe, and free from clutter

• Assist residents to and from common areas as stated within their care plan

• Work closely with residents to generate participation, attendance at activities

• Assist other departments with residents as needed and required

• Perform concierge duties as directed

• Weekends, holidays, and evenings as required.

Qualifications &Skills of Activities Director:

• Two (2) years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last five (5) year, one of which was full time in patient (resident) activities program in a healthcare setting

• CNA license for the state of Missouri is preferred.

• Related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness

• Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team

• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and at all levels of the organization

• Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations

• Ability to maintain confidentiality

• Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff

Requirementsof Activities Director:

• Ability to lead facilitated group activities, comfortable working with residents

• Must be reliable, outgoing and enjoy being with the elderly

• Basic computer knowledge for implementation of patient/client information, electronic record keeping

• Must have current state driver’s license with clean driving record

• Current CPR, CAPE certifications
