Job summary

Anson Health & Rehabilitation seeks an Activities Director to lead the Activity Department. The role plans, organizes, develops, and directs operations to support residents’ physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being, in line with assessments.

A state-licensed recreation professional or equivalent is required, with relevant experience in healthcare settings. Qualifications include licensure eligibility or completion of state-approved training, plus two years in a social or recreation program

Qualifications

• Qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional who is licensed by the state.
• Eligible for certification as a recreation specialist or as an activities professional.
• Two years’ experience in a social or recreation program in the last five years, including one year full-time in a patient activities program in health care.
• Qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant also acceptable.
• Training course approved by the state may fulfill requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Activity Department.
• Meet residents’ interests and well-being as per comprehensive assessment.
• Ensure activities support physical, mental, and psychosocial health of each resident.

The Activity Director plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of the Activity Department to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.

Applicant must be a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional who is licensed by this state and is eligible for certification as a recreation specialist or as an activities professional; or Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years’ experience in a social or recreation program within the last five (5) years, one (1) of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care setting; or Must have a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or Must have completed a training course approved by the state.
