Job summary

Signature HealthCARE of Norfolk is seeking an Activities Director to plan and direct a wide variety of activities that meet the social, spiritual, and psychological needs of residents. You will coordinate events, provide in-room activities, and build accessible calendars for diverse residents.

The position requires a therapeutic recreation credential or NCCAP Activity Director certification, with 1–2 years of supervisory experience and healthcare activity program experience.

Qualifications

• Degree and certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or equivalent.
• Certified Activity Director by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals.
• Two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years, with one year in a resident activities program in a health care setting.
• Prior completion of a state approved training course.
• One to two years of management/supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct activities to meet residents' social, spiritual, and psychological needs.
• Coordinate and verify assistance for residents for activities and events as necessary.
• Provide in-room activities for residents unable to attend daily events.
• Create an ongoing calendar of activities accessible to men and women of all ages and abilities.

How you Will make a difference

Our Activities Directors make a difference in the lives of our residents by planning, organizing, and directing a wide variety of activities that promote social, spiritual, and psychological needs.

• Coordinate and verify that assistance is provided to residents for activities and events as necessary.
• Provide in room activities for residents who are unable to attend daily events.
• Create an ongoing calendar of activities, which creatively meets multiple needs and is accessible and appealing to both men and women of all ages and abilities.

What you Need to make a Difference

• Degree and certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist; or
• Certified Activity Director by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals; or
• Two (2) years’ experience in a social or recreational program within the past five (5) years, in which one (1) year was full time in a resident activities program in a health care setting; or
• Prior completion of a state approved training course.
• One (1) to two (2) years management/supervisory experience.
