Job summary

Signature HealthCARE Hartford Rehab & Wellness Center is seeking an experienced Activities Director to lead and innovate resident programs. You will plan, organize, and direct activities that support social, spiritual, and psychological needs, while fostering a compassionate, resident-centered environment.

You will build an engaging calendar, coordinate in-room options when needed, and supervise staff to deliver creative, inclusive activities for all residents.

Qualifications

• Must have degree and certification in recreation therapy or equivalent.
• National Certification Council for Activity Professionals certification or state-approved training is acceptable.
• 2+ years in a social or recreational program, 1 year full-time in a health care activities role.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and verify assistance for residents in activities and events.
• Provide in-room activities for residents unable to attend daily events.
• Create and maintain an ongoing activities calendar that appeals to all residents.

How you Will make a difference

Our Activities Directors make a difference in the lives of our residents by planning, organizing, and directing a wide variety of activities that promote social, spiritual, and psychological needs.

• Coordinate and verify that assistance is provided to residents for activities and events as necessary.
• Provide in room activities for residents who are unable to attend daily events.
• Create an ongoing calendar of activities, which creatively meets multiple needs and is accessible and appealing to both men and women of all ages and abilities.

What you Need to make a Difference

• Degree and certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist; or
• Certified Activity Director by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals; or
• Two (2) years’ experience in a social or recreational program within the past five (5) years, in which one (1) year was full time in a resident activities program in a health care setting; or
• Prior completion of a state approved training course.
• One (1) to two (2) years management/supervisory experience.
