Job summary

Signature HealthCARE in Norfolk seeks an Activities Director to design, coordinate, and lead a broad range of resident activities that promote social, spiritual, and psychological well-being.

You will supervise a team, schedule in-room and group activities, and develop calendars that engage residents across all ages and abilities.

Qualifications

• Degree and certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or equivalent.
• Certified Activity Director by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals.
• Two years of experience in social or recreational programs in the past five years, with one year in a resident activities program in health care.
• One to two years of management or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct activities to meet social, spiritual, and psychological needs.
• Coordinate and verify assistance for residents in activities and events.
• Provide in-room activities and maintain an engaging calendar accessible to all residents.

How You Will Make a Difference

Our Activities Directors make a difference in the lives of our residents by planning, organizing, and directing a wide variety of activities that promote social, spiritual, and psychological needs.

• Coordinate and verify that assistance is provided to residents for activities and events as necessary.
• Provide in room activities for residents who are unable to attend daily events.
• Create an ongoing calendar of activities, which creatively meets multiple needs and is accessible and appealing to both men and women of all ages and abilities.

What You Need To Make a Difference

• Degree and certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist; or
• Certified Activity Director by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals; or
• Two (2) years’ experience in a social or recreational program within the past five (5) years, in which one (1) year was full time in a resident activities program in a health care setting; or
• Prior completion of a state approved training course.
• One (1) to two (2) years management/supervisory experience.
