Job summary

Galleria Woods in Hoover, Alabama is seeking a full-time Day Activities Coordinator for a 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. shift.

The role focuses on planning and leading recreation and educational activities for residents, with a strong emphasis on creativity, safety, and resident engagement. The position offers a Daily Pay program, a competitive pay rate of $16.00–$18.00 per hour, and a comprehensive benefits package within a team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in therapeutic recreation, education, or healthcare.
• Two years of senior living activities experience in licensed healthcare within last five years.
• Activities certification is a plus.
• Creativity in developing and implementing activities for seniors.
• Excellent communication skills and a passion for working with seniors.
• Organizational skills and ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead a variety of recreational and educational activities for residents.
• Create and distribute monthly calendars and promotional materials.
• Conduct interviews and assessments to tailor programs to residents' needs.
• Connect relatives with community resources and coordinate family meetings.
• Coordinate Resident Council and staff meetings to address interests.
• Ensure safe movement of residents to/from recreation areas.
• Maintain reports and schedules in line with regulations.
• Purchase and inventory supplies and keep equipment clean and maintained.
• Communicate goals of the program to staff, volunteers, and the public.
• Direct and train volunteers in activities.
• Transport residents to off-site activities.

Your Responsibilities:

• Plan and lead a variety of recreational and educational activities, including current events, discussion groups, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, off-campus outings, special events, and one-on-one visits.
• Create and distribute monthly calendars and other promotional materials.
• Conduct interviews and develop individual resident assessments to tailor recreational programs to their needs and interests.
• Suggest fun activities to relatives for use upon discharge of residents and connect them with community recreation resources.
• Coordinate Resident Council and family meetings, and arrange special meetings to address interests and provide educational opportunities.
• Ensure residents move safely to and from recreational areas.
• Maintain reports, studies, and schedules in line with state and federal regulations.
• Purchase and inventory supplies and equipment, and ensure recreational equipment is clean and well-maintained.
• Communicate the goals and objectives of the recreational program to staff, volunteers, relatives, and the public.
• Direct and train volunteers in their activities.
• Transport residents to off-site activities.
