Job summary

Desert Springs Post Acute, soon to be Willow Springs Healthcare Center, is seeking an enthusiastic Activities Aide to create meaningful moments and meaningful connections with residents. You will plan, organize, and implement recreational activities to enhance physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

The role emphasizes creativity, compassion, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to deliver engaging experiences and maintain high-quality life for residents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with residents, families, and team members.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate group and individual activities for resident engagement.
• Provide one-on-one activities for residents unable to participate in groups.
• Encourage participation and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment.
• Assist with games, crafts, music programs, events, and outings.
• Adapt activities to residents' cognitive, emotional, and physical needs.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to support resident needs.
• Create and distribute monthly activity calendars.
• Maintain activity areas in a clean, safe condition.
• Monitor safety concerns and equipment needs.

Position Summary

The Activities Aide assists in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational, social, educational, and therapeutic activities designed to enhance residents' physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This role requires creativity, compassion, flexibility, and a genuine passion for improving the lives of others.

Essential Responsibilities

• Facilitate group and individual activities that promote resident engagement and enjoyment
• Provide one-on-one activities for residents who are unable to participate in group programs
• Encourage resident participation and help foster a welcoming, inclusive environment
• Assist with games, crafts, music programs, special events, celebrations, and community outings
• Adapt activities to meet residents' cognitive, emotional, and physical abilities
• Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members to support resident needs
• Assist with the creation and distribution of monthly activity calendars
• Maintain activity areas in a clean, organized, and safe manner
• Monitor and report safety concerns, equipment needs, or maintenance issues
• Support the department in creating memorable experiences that enhance residents' quality of life

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred
• Prior experience as an Activities Aide or within recreation programming is highly desirable
• CPR certification preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with residents, families, and team members
• Compassionate, dependable, and resident-focused approach to care
