Job summary

The Neighborhoods of White Lake is seeking a Community Life Aide to join the activities department in White Lake, Michigan. This part-time role runs the day shift from 10am to 6pm, supporting residents through recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs.

You will work under the Community Life Director to assess and enhance residents' living experiences, coordinate activities, and document progress while promoting engagement and lifelong learning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Chauffeur license desirable and may be required to obtain a Class C license.
• Previous experience in long-term care or with geriatric population preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating community life programs for residents.
• Interview residents or families to identify meaningful activities and goals.
• Promote socialization, physical activity, lifelong learning, and resident well-being.
• Observe resident mood, participation, and progress and document outcomes.

Skills

About the Role

Under the direction of the Community Life Director or Designee, in cooperation and collaboration with the Community Life Team, the Community Life Aide will assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual programs, in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan. As directed by the Community Life Director or Designee, the Community Life Aide will proactively identify, develop and execute solutions to enhance the resident living experience.

• Assist in the creation, planning, developing, organizing, implementing and evaluating of the community life(activity) programs of this Community.
• Interview residents or family members in a private setting to obtain life history information and to plan meaningful and relevant objectives and goals for the resident. Serve as on-site community representative to involve the resident/family in planning goals whenever possible.
• Assist residents to improve their daily life by promoting socialization, expanding personnel interests, increasing physical activity and continue lifelong learning.
• Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior and degree of involvement so that department can evaluate resident progress, by noting, reporting and charting resident behavior.

About You

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Chauffeur license desirable and may be required to obtain a class C driver’s or Chauffeur’s license.
• Previous experience working in long-term care or with the geriatric population preferred.
