Job summary

Beach Breeze Rehab & Care in West Palm Beach, FL is seeking an energetic Activities Assistant to join our dedicated team. You will help create engaging recreational programs that enhance residents' quality of life and provide companionship to seniors.

Responsibilities include planning daily activities, leading crafts, music, exercise groups, and special events, and coordinating with the care team to support resident-centered care. A compassionate, flexible, and team-oriented mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in activities, recreation, customer service, or related field preferred.
• Experience with geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and conduct daily recreational and social activities.
• Lead games, arts and crafts, music programs, exercise groups, events and celebrations.
• Encourage resident participation and promote a positive atmosphere.
• Develop relationships with residents and families to understand interests and preferences.
• Provide one-on-one visits and companionship to residents as needed.
• Assist with transporting residents to and from activities when appropriate.
• Set up, organize, and clean activity areas and equipment before and after events.
• Observe and document resident participation and engagement.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support resident-centered care.
• Follow facility policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Schedule: Full-Time | 11:30 AM – 8:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Develop meaningful relationships with residents and families to better understand individual interests and preferences.
• Provide one-on-one visits and companionship to residents as needed.
• Assist with transporting residents to and from activities when appropriate.
• Set up, organize, and clean activity areas and equipment before and after events.
• Observe and document resident participation, engagement, and responses to activities.
• Help maintain activity supplies and inventory.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support resident-centered care and programming.
• Follow all facility policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in activities, recreation, customer service, or a related field preferred.
• Experience working with geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care populations preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Enthusiastic, patient, and compassionate approach to resident care.
• Must be dependable, flexible, and professional.
