Position Overview

The Activities Assistant facilitates routine daily activities and services for assigned residents following their assessment and care plans, as directed by supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Organize, implement, and direct scheduled activities of a recreational, physical, educational, social and spiritual nature for residents in groups and individually.
• Ensure participation of all residents and tailor activities to various levels of functioning based on recorded assessments.
• Perform room visitations and activities as required by schedule or observed resident need.
• Monitor and supervise residents at all times during activities to ensure safety.
• Maintain clear and concise documentation in resident charts and logs as required by state regulations and facility policy.
• Create and maintain a warm, positive, and calm environment throughout the unit and shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months experience organizing and providing planned group activities in a skilled nursing facility or equivalent healthcare setting.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with residents and team members.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Compassionate nature with a desire to work with the elderly population.
• Basic knowledge of recreational activities suited for seniors.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
• Monday to Friday, 12:00pm–8:00pm
• Saturday to Sunday, 9:00am–5:00pm (flexible as needed)
