Job summary

Heritage Senior Living in Mechanicsville, VA is seeking an Activities Assistant to support residents through a variety of engaging programs. You will help plan and facilitate activities that enrich residents' lives and encourage participation in community events.

Responsibilities include coordinating volunteers, arranging transport to outings, and fostering a positive, dignified environment for seniors and their families. Prior experience with seniors is a plus.

Qualifications

• Passion for helping seniors and contributing to a positive atmosphere in the community.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both oral and written.
• Willingness to work every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and providing activities that meet residents' mental, physical, spiritual, and social needs through assessments.
• Assist in expanding Volunteer Programs.
• Arrange transportation and escorts for residents to activities.

Job Requirements

Job Responsibilities Include

• Assist with planning and providing a variety of active and passive, group and individual activities which enhance the mental, physical, spiritual, and social needs of residents through assessments, allowing them to play an active role in the community
• Assist with maintaining and expanding Volunteer Programs
• Assist in arranging transportation and escorts for residents to and from outside and community activities

Qualifications

• The ability to create interest in the activities and motivate residents to participate daily
• Creativity and motivational skills necessary
• High school diploma or GED
• Certificates/Licenses: A valid driver’s license in the state of work is required
