Job summary

The Eliot at Erie Station Assisted Living is seeking an Activities Assistant in Middletown, NY to enrich residents’ lives through engaging recreational programs. You will plan and lead activities, promote participation, and work with the care team to create meaningful experiences.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in activities, recreation, senior living, healthcare, or customer service preferred.
• Experience working with seniors, including those with dementia, is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic personality.
• Ability to lift, push, and transport activity supplies and equipment as needed.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing daily recreational and social activities for residents
• Encourage resident participation in group and individual activities
• Lead activities such as arts and crafts, games, exercise programs, music, bingo, and special events
• Accompany residents on community outings and scheduled trips when needed
• Set up and clean up activity areas and event spaces
• Maintain activity calendars, supplies, and attendance records
• Foster a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all residents
• Work collaboratively with nursing, dietary, and other departments to enhance resident experiences
• Observe and report changes in residents' participation, mood, or behavior to appropriate staff
