Job summary

The Promenade at Blue Hill in Pearl River, NY is hiring an Activities Assistant to create and lead engaging social activities that promote the dignity and emotional well-being of residents, including those with memory impairments. This role supports personal care needs and fosters self-esteem in a warm, community-focused setting.

The position is part-time with some evening hours and flexible scheduling. PTO and a free lunch are included as benefits.

Responsibilities

• Reports to Director of Recreation and Country Cottage Coordinator.
• Interacts with residents, including memory-impaired individuals, with clear communication.
• Motivates residents to participate in activities and demonstrates positive interpersonal skills.
• Plans and leads arts, music, cooking and baking activities and guides indoor/outdoor programs.
• Plans community trips and supports residents with challenging behaviors as needed.
• Creates monthly calendar for the Supportive Living Program and runs all activities.
• Works independently and as part of a team, adapting to changing resident needs.
• Organizes socialization, relaxation, and recreational programs.

Wage:

$18.65–$20.00 per hour

As an Activities Assistant, you will create and lead engaging social activities that promote the respect and dignity of each person, while supporting the emotional health of residents with declining memory impairments. With a focus on personal care needs and self-esteem, this role will be a perfect fit for someone with a passion for working with seniors and a strong desire to make a positive impact.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reports to Director of Recreation and Country Cottage Coordinator
• Has Strong Communication Skills and Ability to Interact with residents/some with memory impairments
• Is able to problem solve and has Positive interpersonal Skills, is energetic and personable with others
• Able to motivate residents to participate in activities and is sensitive to the needs of each individual
• Helps residents to use equipment and supplies, plan and direct creative arts program, music activities, cooking and baking activities, and leads in indoor and outdoor activities
• Plans and escorts residents on community trips (shopping, lunch outings, parks and museums) and Ability to Support Challenging Behaviors in Senior Population
• Creates monthly calendar for Supportive Living Program and promotes, organizes and runs all activities
• Able to work individually and part of a team and is flexible to meet with changing needs of resident population
• Enthusiastic and positive about role and assists in planning programs that provide socialization, relaxation and recreation
