Job summary

HMR Veterans Services in Bonham, Texas, is seeking an Activities Assistant to support our Residents through engaging programs that enhance well-being and social connection. You will plan and implement activities, encourage participation, and collaborate with the care team to promote dignity and comfort.

The role requires a high school diploma, a positive attitude, and the ability to work independently or with a team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must display empathy and patience with residents.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating and implementing activities
• Encourage resident participation in hobbies, crafts, and events
• Help develop care plans and assessments
• Involve residents and families in activity planning
• Maintain clean and safe work areas and supplies
• Attend meetings, training, and in-service sessions
• Assist with transportation and supervise activities
• Collaborate with medical staff and external providers
• Promote a positive, warm, and respectful environment

What You'll Do

The Activities Assistant will support the planning and execution of the Activities Program to enhance the well-being and engagement of residents, following federal, state, and local guidelines.. Responsibilities include:

• Assist in creating and implementing activities
• Encourage resident participation in hobbies, crafts, and events
• Help develop care plans and assessments
• Involve residents and families in activity planning
• Maintain clean and safe work areas and supplies
• Attend meetings, training, and in-service sessions
