Job summary

HMR Veterans Services in Tyler, TX is seeking an Activities Assistant to support the planning and execution of the Activities Program for residents of the Texas State Veterans Home. You will help create and implement engaging activities that promote well-being and social engagement in compliance with regulations.

This full-time on-site role requires a high school diploma and offers a benefits package including 401(k), health insurance, PTO, tuition reimbursement, and life insurance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, patience and flexibility.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Emotionally and mentally capable of handling stress.
• Able to relate to residents of varying cognitive levels.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating and implementing activities
• Encourage resident participation in hobbies, crafts, and events
• Help develop care plans and assessments
• Involve residents and families in activity planning
• Maintain clean and safe work areas and supplies
• Attend meetings, training, and in-service sessions
• Assist with transportation and supervise activities
• Collaborate with medical staff and external providers
• Promote a positive, warm and respectful environment

What You'll Do
