Job summary

ExcelCare Norwood is seeking an Activities Aide to plan and lead recreational, social, and therapeutic programs for residents. If you enjoy working with seniors, bring creativity and energy to everything you do.

You will collaborate with nursing staff to adapt activities to varying abilities, provide in-room visits, and help with calendars and events, contributing to a caring, engaging daily life for residents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with seniors in long-term care preferred but not required.
• Warm, patient, and enthusiastic personality.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lead groups and engage residents with varying abilities.
• Ability to stand, walk, and assist with transporting residents.
• Flexibility to work some evenings, weekends, or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, setting up, and leading daily activities.
• Lead group and one-on-one activities such as games, crafts, music, and exercise.
• Encourage participation and adapt activities to individual abilities.
• Provide in-room visits and activities for residents unable to attend.
• Help transport residents to and from activities.
• Document participation and attendance on time.
• Assist with monthly calendars, holidays, and special programs.
• Communicate with nursing staff about residents' needs.
• Maintain a clean, safe activity space and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, setting up, and leading daily group and one-on-one activities such as games, crafts, music, exercise, and special events

• Encourage residents to participate, adapting activities to individual abilities and interests

• Provide in-room visits and activities for residents unable to attend group programs

• Help transport and escort residents to and from activities

• Document resident participation and attendance accurately and on time

• Assist with monthly activity calendars, holiday celebrations, and special programs

• Communicate with nursing staff and other departments about residents' needs and changes

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized activity space and supplies

• Treat all residents with dignity and respect, and follow facility policies and resident rights

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Experience working with seniors in long-term care, assisted living, or a similar setting preferred, but not required

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Ability to lead groups and engage residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities
