Sunnyview Nursing Home in Warwick, RI is seeking a part-time Activities Assistant to implement recreational and therapeutic programs that enhance residents’ physical, mental, and social well-being.

You will lead daily group and individual activities such as arts and crafts, music, games, exercise, and outings; encourage participation, and assist with monthly calendars and care plans.

Standard requirements include a high school diploma or GED, and CPR/First Aid with BLS preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Encourage participation of all residents, including those with cognitive impairments.
• Assist in developing monthly event calendars and individual care plans.
• Record resident participation, moods and behaviors to evaluate progress.
• Transport residents to activity areas and prepare activity spaces.

Responsibilities

• Resident Engagement: Encourage participation in events, especially for residents with cognitive impairments like dementia.
• Logistics & Support: Transport residents to and from activity areas, set up and clean up activity spaces, and distribute monthly activity calendars.
• Documentation: Record resident participation levels, moods, and behaviors to evaluate progress and meet regulatory requirements.
• Planning: Assist the Activities Director in developing monthly event calendars and individual care plans.

Sunny View is looking to add a part time Activities Assistant to our team. Activities Assistants in a long-term care facility is responsible for implementing recreational and therapeutic programs that enhance the physical, mental, and social well-being of residents.

Typical Job Responsibilities

• Activity Facilitation: Lead daily group and individual activities, including arts and crafts, music, games (e.g., bingo), exercise classes, and outdoor excursions.
• Resident Engagement: Encourage participation in events, especially for residents with cognitive impairments like dementia.
• Logistics & Support: Transport residents to and from activity areas, set up and clean up activity spaces, and distribute monthly activity calendars.
