Job summary

Hathaway Manor in New Bedford, MA is seeking an Activities Aide to plan, implement and evaluate recreational programs that support residents’ social, emotional and cognitive well-being in a healthcare setting.

This role requires 1:30pm to 7pm shifts, part-time or full-time with every-other-weekend work; experience is required. Training is provided, and you will coordinate with other staff to enhance quality of life.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating activity programs.
  • Observe resident attendance, behavior, and degree of involvement during programs.
  • Encourage resident participation as deemed appropriate.
  • Transport residents to and from activities as needed.
  • Participate in discharge planning, development, and implementation of activity care plans and resident assessments.
  • Interview residents or family members to obtain activity information.
  • Assist in arranging for transportation for outings.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments and staff.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining an ongoing quality assurance program for the activity department.
  • Perform administrative duties, i.e. completing necessary forms, reports, etc.

Part Time or full time 1:30pm to 7pm work hours. Every other weekend is required.

Employee must be self-motivated and able to work independently.

Experience is required!!

Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to assist in planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual programs, in accordance with resident’s care plan.

Meal support in the evening is needed. This position operates in a healthcare setting. This role also routinely comes into contact with residents who have contagious diseases.
