The Office of Institutional Advancement seeks an Acting Associate Vice President for Development, Alumni Relations, and Campaigns to be responsible for the strategic leadership, direction and management of the Development, Alumni Relations, and Campaign operations on behalf of Roosevelt University.
Working with the Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement, deans, staff and faculty, the Acting Associate Vice President is responsible for strengthening a culture of philanthropy at Roosevelt, and building capacity in each area while achieving short-term goals.
The Acting Associate Vice President will plan, direct, and lead the core revenue generating units in Institutional Advancement to meet the annual giving goals and objectives within the comprehensive campaign.
The Acting Associate Vice President must have excellent leadership, managerial and time management skills in order to balance the demands of the core areas within the Office of Institutional Advancement.
This position is located on the Chicago Campus and reports to the Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Chief Advancement Officer.
Earned Bachelor’s Degree.
At least 5 years of experience in highly productive fundraising.
Familiarity with and use of a fundraising database system such as Raiser’s Edge is required.
Proven ability to manage professional development staff and experience in higher education is required.
Career track record that shows stability with an organization, skill at organizing a team effort, strategic leadership, analytical skills, and the capacity to produce under pressure.
Strategic thinking and orientation, ability to deal with emergent issues, multiple projects and constituencies, simultaneously.
Creative, energetic and clear communicator with an ability to increase efficiencies in complex annual giving and alumni relations operations.
Proven expertise in event planning and management. Previous experience with direct mail production.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to serve as a spokesperson for the University.
Demonstrated ability to set and achieve or exceed goals and meet deadlines.
Enthusiasm, drive, motivational ability, and willingness to take calculated risks.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with and use of social media networks is required.

Basic office/ classroom equipment (desktop computer, laptop, overhead projector, office copier).
Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds of weight or pressure). Regular use of desktop computer is required, calling for frequent hand/wrist movement and repetition.
Serves as the leader for and supervisor of development, annual giving, and alumni relations. These are the largest revenue generating units of the University. Together, directors of development support every College, Intercollegiate Athletics, scholarships, programs, facilities and the overall operating needs of the University.
Maintains an extensive base of knowledge about University priorities. Works closely with staff and colleagues who have a revenue-producing responsibility, to create opportunities for strategic partnerships between current and prospective donors and University priorities.

Works with the Interim Vice President, to advance integrated comprehensive fundraising strategies, incorporating all advancement activities. Attends Board Development Committees and other high-level volunteer committee meetings, as appropriate.
Works with the Office of Alumni Relations and the Executive Director, Special Events and Alumni Reunions, as needed, to plan and implement high-level priority alumni, donor cultivation and other activities.
Facilitates fundraising initiatives with alumni chapters and serves as liaison between the colleges and the Office of Institutional Advancement.
Identifies constituencies and audiences with whom the colleges and university may want to establish relationships for many reasons, including philanthropic investment, alumni development, special campaign fundraising and student or faculty recruiting.
Serves as an articulate, enthusiastic and visible spokesperson during events and functions inside and outside Roosevelt University.
Serves as a catalyst with the colleges to assist the deans, the faculty and external advisory groups in promoting a coordinated development approach and annual giving operation.
Serves as liaison with the University’s office of Marketing.
Utilizes fundraising technology i.e. Raiser’s Edge donor database.
Completes other duties as assigned by the Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement.
