Job summary

The Elizabeth Layton Center seeks a Peer Support Specialist to join the ACT team in Paola, KS. You will provide recovery-focused support to adults in a community-based setting, emphasizing skills for independent living and mutual support.

Role involves face-to-face contact in community locations, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and commitment to client-centered care. ELC promotes a healthy work-life balance and ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in Kansas to provide peer support, including background checks and training.
• The provider must self-identify as a present or former primary consumer of mental health services.

Responsibilities

• Help consumers build a support network from peers with similar experiences.
• Assist in discussing medications, diagnoses or treatment with clinicians.
• Identify triggers and strategies to reduce functional impairments.
• Collaborate with other staff and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Meet deadlines for daily paperwork and maintain documentation quality.
• Perform duties as assigned and complete required trainings.
• Comply with ELC policies and procedures.
