How You’ll Make an Impact

As an Acrylic Operator you’ll be at the forefront of our innovation, driving excellence in filtering, manufacturing, packaging, and shipment of our finished product to fill customer orders. Daily, in this role, you will:

  • Filter finished latex from reactors to storage tanks, ensuring the latex meets all specifications, calculating correct storage tank capacity, and performing proper sampling and recordkeeping (valve placement sheets, shift log, filing charts, etc.).
  • Manufacture, package and ship customer bulk orders, including calculating tanker input/output, inspecting the tanker, sampling, completing the weight ticket and the bill of lading.
  • Manufacture, package and ship customer drum orders, including proper sampling and labeling, completing the packing list and bill of lading, and operating a forklift.
  • Select and use pumps, lines, hoses and filtration equipment, inspecting and cleaning them as needed and informing the Team Leader of maintenance requests for defective equipment.
  • Perform daily checks and maintenance of the scrubber system, including sampling, draining knock-out pots, adjusting flows, changing solutions and recording QC results in the log book.
  • Store raw materials and finished products in an organized and safe manner.
  • Maintain general housekeeping in the process and warehouse areas.
Required Qualifications that Enables Your Success
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience as an operator in a chemical manufacturing is preferred, but not required.
  • A high level of safety awareness is required.
  • Job duties include lifting 55 lb. bags and climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Plant operators must be medically fit to wear a negative pressure respirator.
  • Basic math skills, reading comprehension and ability to communicate with others.
  • Must satisfactorily complete all safety training courses as offered by management.
Your Work Environment

The Gastonia, NC location is about 30 miles west of downtown Charlotte, close to the border of South Carolina. This site currently has about 75 full-time employees and produces a liquid acrylic polymer emulsion used in latex or coatings applications.

  • Occasional lifting or movement of materials.
