Lab Technician (Analytical/ Physical Testing/ Chemist) - Monaca, PA

(Rotating 12 hour Shift 24 x 7) Pay: $20-$23/hr on w2

All candidates must be willing and able to work 12‑hour rotating shifts including weekends. They will NOT be working 7 days a week. Usually one week is 36 hrs (3 days @ 8 hrs per day), the following week could then be 48 hrs (4 days @ 8 hrs per day); and not all days in a row. HM is flexible to work with the contractor on the work hours.

Description
  • We are looking for talented individuals like yourself to be responsible for analytical testing of our latex products: Acrylic Copolymers, Carboxylated Styrene-Butadiene (XSB), and Coater Ready.
  • The site manufactures over 100 products for the global business unit EDN Dispersions & Resins that are sold into primarily 6 markets (adhesives, paint, construction materials, fiberbond, paper, automotive). The site located on the Ohio River near Pittsburgh is a bulk manufacturer into tank trucks and railcars.
  • Our production is high volume batch polymerization in 10 reactor systems in a 24x7 operation. Your quality orientation with responsiveness, attention to detail, and politeness will be a key contribution to the success of our team. In addition to the quality group, you will interact routinely with logistics, operations, engineering, technology, and other business functions.
  • The site is PSM / RMP where process safety, occupational safety, and environmental stewardship is essential to our operational discipline.
  • Product quality is certified by ISO9001:2015 and our focus on Operational Excellence / Continuous Improvement are key to our business relationship with our customers.
Education
  • Associates / BS in metrology (measurement), chemistry, or other science / engineering.
Experience
  • 2+ years chemical laboratory experience
Analytical Testing
  • The laboratory analytical skills to accurately measure physical properties (e.g. pH, viscosity, solids, PSD) and composition (e.g. GC, HPLC, FTIR, titrations) for Latex products produced at the Client Monaca site.
Computer Skills
  • This role requires data entry and pulling information from LIMS (IQS), SAP, and other software packages.
Operational Excellence
  • Technical aptitude to complete Lean White & Yellow Belt certification within one (1) year of hire.
Quality Orientation
  • Attention to accuracy for performing tests and communicating results.
  • Attention to detail is a key attribute.
Teamwork
  • The lab technician is to interact routinely with logistics, operations, security, engineering, and other site functions with responsiveness and politeness to maintain a mutually respectful work environment.
Other
  • The lab technician has other assigned tasks to support the collection of samples.
