Job summary

Louisiana State University Libraries seeks an Acquisitions Librarian to oversee all resource acquisition operations for print and electronic materials, including monographs, serials, databases, and streaming media.

The role partners with collection development and budgeting teams, manages vendor relationships, ensures procurement policy compliance, and leads staff development for the acquisitions unit.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library & Information Science (ALA-accredited).
• At least 3 years related experience and 1 year supervisory experience.
• Experience with acquisitions, electronic resources, serials, collection development, procurement, or finance in higher education or libraries.
• Experience with library services platforms such as SirsiDynix, Alma, GOBI, OCLC Connexion, or OCLC WorldShare.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate ordering, receiving, and invoicing of print and electronic resources (monographs, serials, databases, streaming media).
• Maintain acquisitions records in the library management system and ensure policy compliance.
• Monitor and reconcile fund balances, review expenditures, and track budget allocations.
• Serve as liaison with vendors, publishers, and subscription agents to facilitate purchasing and resolve billing issues.
• Supervise and mentor staff in Collections and Resource Strategies, including training and development.
• Provide service to the libraries, university, and profession.
• Identify areas for improvement and propose solutions based on data and trends.
