Job summary

Louisiana State University – Paul M. Hebert Law Center seeks a Collection Services Librarian to develop, assess, acquire, and provide access to the Law Library's print and electronic collections, supporting teaching, research, and service.

Reporting to the Head of Resource Management, the librarian coordinates acquisitions workflows, cataloging, metadata, and serials management, ensuring resources are discoverable and accessible.

Qualifications

• MLIS/MLS from an ALA-accredited program.
• 3 years of professional library experience in acquisitions, collection development, cataloging, metadata, or technical services.
• Knowledge of MARC 21, RDA, and authority control.

Responsibilities

• Lead collection development for the Law Library, identify gaps, and select resources to support curricular and research needs.
• Participate in collection assessment, inventory, preservation, and deselection projects. (25%)
• Manage acquisitions workflows for print and electronic resources, including ordering and subscriptions. (25%)
• Perform copy cataloging following MARC, RDA, LC concepts; ensure metadata quality. (25%)
• Engage in professional development and participate in library associations. (10%)
• Collaborate with faculty to develop policies and workflows related to collection development and metadata. (10%)
• Perform additional duties as assigned. (5%)
