Job Description

The Red Gate Group is seeking a highly skilled Acquisition Pathway Policy Expert - SME to join our team and support the Acquisition Policy & Innovation (API) Directorate within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (USD(A&S)). This position plays a pivotal role in shaping and implementing innovative acquisition policies that deliver critical capabilities to the Warfighter across various acquisition pathways, including Urgent Capability Acquisition, Middle Tier Acquisition, and Major Capability Acquisition.

The API Directorate is a driving force in aligning acquisition policy with strategic objectives, managing a $2 trillion portfolio of warfighting assets. As an Acquisition Pathway Policy Expert, you will leverage your expertise to enhance policy development, improve acquisition processes, and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. You will contribute to innovative policy-making, interagency collaboration, and strategic advisory efforts at the highest levels of the Department of Defense (DoD).

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop, review, and coordinate acquisition policies, directives, and guidance, ensuring alignment with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze the impact of policy changes on acquisition frameworks, such as the DoD 5000-series policies and Adaptive Acquisition Framework.
  • Prepare accurate and timely responses to congressional, departmental, and executive branch queries, leveraging statutory and regulatory research.
  • Support the design and management of online acquisition tools, including guidebooks, glossaries, and the Adaptive Acquisition Framework website.
  • Monitor and apply acquisition innovations from industry, government agencies, and research organizations to enhance DoD practices.
  • Represent API on committees, boards, and task forces, providing expert insights into acquisition policy and innovation.
  • Provide expert advice on integrating and protecting technologies that enable Warfighter capabilities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new acquisition strategies to address emerging challenges and mission needs.
  • Prepare reports and deliver professional briefings to senior DoD leaders, Congress, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications :

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance).
  • Recognized industry authority providing expert consultation and advisory services, with proven ability to deliver high-ROI technical solutions
  • Requires extensive technical expertise and demonstrable experience leading complex programmatic initiatives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively brief senior leaders, including Flag Officers and SES members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, SharePoint, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable policies and programs.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Five or more years of experience developing systems acquisition policies, regulations, or guidance.
  • Extensive experience supporting a Headquarters-level DoD organization, such as an Agency, Joint Staff, Service, Component, Major Command, or Combatant Command.
