Job summary

Consertus is seeking an Acoustics Technician to support the Chicago RSIP program, performing windshield surveys, property surveys, and acoustical testing at O’Hare and Midway.

You will schedule visits, calibrate equipment, analyze noise data, and prepare reports for the Manager of Acoustics, working independently and with a team.

A Bachelor’s degree in Acoustics or related field and a valid driver's license are required; the role offers company-paid benefits and opportunities for field research.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Acoustics or related field.
• Must have own car and insurance; ability to drive up to 300 miles per month.
• Proficiency with computer, Internet, scheduling, word processing, spreadsheets, and email.

Responsibilities

• Conduct windshield surveys of single-family homes and document acoustically significant features.
• Analyze data to categorize homes by characteristics for noise reduction.
• Identify representative samples for acoustical testing.
• Perform in-home property surveys to group dwelling units by bedrooms and layouts.
• Record data to determine floorplan types and variations.
• Select representative samples for acoustical testing.
• Schedule and perform acoustical tests pre- and post-construction; calibrate equipment and report malfunctions.
• Download and analyze data to determine pre- and post-construction Noise Level Reduction (NLR).
• Submit electronic reports for review; assist with methodology improvements.
• Describe treatment packages to homeowners; prescribe acoustical improvements.
• Take detailed measurements and plan sketches; document HVAC and electrical layouts.
• Take exterior photos and submit documentation.
• Support the Project Manager and verify acoustical product STC values.
