Job summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking an Acoustic Engineer in Fitchburg, MA, to lead acoustic design and analysis of high performance rotating equipment and related structures. You will contribute to Steam Turbines, large Electric Motors, and propulsion components.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, airborne/structure-borne acoustic analysis knowledge, and experience with large rotating equipment design considerations. U.S. citizenship and security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar with 2+ years evaluating acoustic performance of turbo machinery or large rotating machinery.
• Ability to perform Finite Element and Statistical Energy Analyses.
• Experience with acoustic testing, model validation, and data acquisition with instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Work independently or on a project team and act as SME and mentor.
• Execute acoustic analysis on large rotating assemblies (Narrow Band / Octave) and Transmission Paths.
• Modeling tools include empirical methods, FEA, BEM, SEA.
• Communicate technical and programmatic information clearly to teams and leadership.
• Interact with customers, including the US Navy, as needed.
