Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural, Ocean/Naval or similar engineering discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in structural/dynamic FEA.
• Hands-on proficiency with commercial FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran/Femap, LS-DYNA).
• Experience with dynamic analysis methods – modal, harmonic, random vibration, transient/explicit dynamics, and/or shock.
• Experience driving analysis from concept through qualification and fielded systems.
• Experience correlating analytical models against physical test data and defending conclusions.
• Strong ownership and accountability, including willingness to sign off on analyses.

Responsibilities

• Manage resource allocations for 8–12 analysis engineers.
• Interview and hire staff; build development plans for junior analysts to become independent technical owners.
• Conduct annual reviews; provide feedback, training, and career guidance.
• Serve as senior technical authority for analysis methodology, modeling standards, mesh/boundary practices, material models, and independent reviews of results.
• Contribute by personally executing the most complex and highest-risk analyses.
• Plan and drive execution of analysis scope to meet quality, schedule and budget.
• Own qualification strategy and defend it to customers and independent review authorities.
• Correlate FEM to modal survey, vibration, shock, and acoustic data; drive validation and uncertainty quantification practices.
• Collaborate with design engineering early in the product lifecycle to influence structural and acoustic design decisions.
• Ensure AS9100 compliance; drive continuous improvement and automation of workflows.
• Represent DRS to customers (Navy, NAVSEA) and suppliers; communicate technical information clearly.
