Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan seeks a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to support the Miami smelter and rod plant in Arizona. You will perform routine and non-routine maintenance, document work orders, and repair, install, and calibrate process equipment such as pumps, conveyors, and gearboxes, ensuring safe production.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in mechanical/maintenance crafts, welding skills, and familiarity with safety standards (MSHA/OSHA).

Qualifications

• Two (2) years’ experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.
• FPM Diagnostic Mechanic I: demonstrate ability to apply knowledge and technical skills with 35% score on a written assessment; basic welding skills recommended.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and non-routine maintenance activities
• Complete Work Orders and other maintenance documentation
• Repair, install, fabricate, rebuild, and perform preventive maintenance of process equipment (pumps, conveyors, dryers, gearboxes, filters) and perform equipment lubrication
• Operate small and large cranes; understand safe rigging practices
• Follow MSHA/OSHA rules, environmental rules, SOPs and work area instructions; participate in safety and environmental activities
