Job summary
Freeport-McMoRan Inc. is seeking a skilled maintenance mechanic for our Miami smelter and rod plant near Phoenix. You will diagnose, repair and maintain equipment and process systems in a smelter environment, with duties spanning conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, and hydraulic systems.
The role may require operating large mobile equipment and welding tasks. A valid SMAW certification and ability to read fabrication drawings are preferred; schedule may include non-standard shifts in a 24/7 operation.
Qualifications
- One year of mechanical/maintenance craft experience or equivalent education.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
- Must pass written assessments where required.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, maintain, install and repair equipment and process systems in a Smelter.
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on anode, mold, converter, acid, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical components and pumps.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and small mobile equipment.
- Possibly perform welding tasks and read fabrication drawings.
