Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a skilled maintenance mechanic for our Miami smelter and rod plant near Phoenix, AZ. The role focuses on safe operation, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of facility equipment in a smelting environment.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical systems, reading blueprints, and performing preventative maintenance; welding may be required, with training and safety as priorities. Compensation includes hourly pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts or combination of education and experience
• Ability to read blueprints
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures
• Must pass written assessment/safety exam

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, install and repair equipment and process systems in a smelter
• Diagnose and repair plant equipment: gear boxes, pumps, conveyors, belts, bearings, piping
• Perform lubrication and preventative maintenance tasks
• Operate forklifts, cranes and other mobile equipment as needed
• Welding tasks may be required
