Qualifications

DESCRIPTION

Incumbent must demonstrate a strong understanding of cardiac ultrasound principles and physics, with advanced knowledge of adult congenital heart disease (ACHD), pediatric congenital lesions, and complex postoperative repairs. Experience with advanced imaging techniques, including 3-D echocardiography and strain imaging is required.

Performs diagnostic recordings, accurate measurements, and calculations of echocardiographic images and Doppler hemodynamic data at rest and with exercise or pharmacologic stress, with or without ultrasound enhancement agents. Applies advanced knowledge of congenital cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics to evaluate ventricular function, valvular disease, intracardiac and extracardiac shunts, pressure gradients, and other congenital and acquired abnormalities. Contributes to research, intraprocedural cases and sedation echocardiograms as assigned. Identifies patients requiring ultrasound enhancement agents, establishes peripheral IV access, and administers agents in accordance with established policies and clinical guidelines. May perform other non-invasive cardiovascular testing, including outpatient ECGs. Contributes to daily workflow responsibilities including triage, scheduling and collaboration between multidisciplinary teams.

Participates in the education and training of cardiac sonographers, students, residents, and fellows, with an emphasis on ACHD and pediatric congenital imaging, complex anatomy, and advanced imaging techniques. May participate in personnel selection, study review, and the training and mentoring of junior sonographers under the direction of department leadership. Works independently, exercises sound clinical judgment, and prioritizes tasks appropriately. Communicates effectively and collaborates with cardiologists, ACHD specialists, advanced practice providers, fellows, sonographers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Floats to other cardiovascular imaging laboratories and clinic locations as needed. May be required to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, and participate in after-hours and/or weekend call coverage.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate of a school of an accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Medical Sonography program or equivalent years of experience.
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)or (RCS).
• ARDMS or CCI.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Four years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination of sonography education and experience.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Adult Congenital and Pediatric experience strongly preferred.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
• Capability to perform on-call including weekend when required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $150,816 - $187,586 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $72.23 - $89.84
