Job summary

Insite Group in Andover, MA is seeking a SBS Supervisor to lead client advisory and manage engagements for privately held and family-owned businesses. The role blends accounting operations with tax planning, requiring close collaboration with managers and partners to deliver accurate financial statements and tax returns.

You will supervise and develop staff, ensure high-quality workpapers, and participate in retirement plan audits when applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 3+ years of recent public accounting experience serving privately held or family-owned businesses.
• Blended experience in accounting/financial statements and tax compliance (1065, 1120S, 1040).
• Strong understanding of GL activity, month-end close, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• CPA or EA designation or active progress toward certification preferred.
• Leadership experience delegating tasks and mentoring staff.

Responsibilities

• Serve as day-to-day contact for client accounts, managing engagement schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Lead accounting and tax engagements for privately held businesses and their owners, including monthly/year-end close and projections.
• Prepare and review financial statements with focus on reviews and compilations.
• Prepare and review federal/state tax returns for partnerships, S corporations, and individuals.
• Review workpapers and provide coaching to junior staff.
• Collaborate with Managers and Partners to identify risks and opportunities for clients.
• Participate in retirement plan audit engagements when applicable.
