American Academy of Family Physicians seeks an Accounts Receivable Strategist to manage day-to-day AR operations across programs, ensuring accurate invoicing, cash application, and collections. HOURS: Hybrid – Monday/Friday Remote. Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday In-Office. Additional hours as required
TRAVEL: Possible 3-5 days travel per year
The Accounts Receivable Strategist supports the organization's Accounts Receivable function and is responsible for day-to-day accounts receivable operations, including invoicing, cash application, collections support, reconciliation, deferred revenue, and revenue recognition across AAFP programs, products, and services. The role applies established GAAP and revenue recognition guidance, partners with Accounting and IT on process and system improvements, and uses AAFP-approved technologies, including automation and AI-enabled tools, to improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, and audit readiness. When complex or unusual accounting matters arise, this role researches applicable ASC 606 guidance and recommends the appropriate accounting and revenue treatment for review by senior accounting staff.
This role is designed for a self-starter with a solid accounting foundation who will deepen expertise in ASC 606, revenue recognition, and accounting systems over time, with mentoring and oversight from senior accounting staff. We are looking for a curious problem-solver who is comfortable learning new systems, improving processes, and growing into more complex revenue accounting work.
