Job Description

Our 90-year-old privately held owner/management company based in Great Neck is seeking energetic and detail-oriented individuals with strong communication skills. This is a full-time position requiring excellent computer skills and a keen attention to detail. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently, interact effectively with employees and building residents, and contribute to providing high-quality service.

The Accounts Receivable Representative will be responsible for charging, receipt, and accounting of funds paid to the organization, including processing deposits and withdrawals of security deposits.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Recording and reconciling daily cash deposit receipt batches with bank statements.
  2. Applying tenant payments to ledgers.
  3. Making adjustments to tenant accounts as needed.
  4. Reconciling monthly security deposit general ledgers and bank statements.
  5. Reconciling monthly rent/vacancy schedules with the general ledger.
  6. Depositing and withdrawing security deposit checks.
  7. Preparing and tracking security deposit refund correspondence.
  8. Compiling scanned copies of correspondence, refund checks, proof of mailing, and other documents for company records.
  9. Screening rent-stabilized/controlled tenant rent checks.
  10. Processing MCI increases, MBR adjustments, RE Tax escalations (including billing and letter notifications via mail), SCRIE/DRIE requests.
  11. Processing miscellaneous charge-backs and check requests.
  12. Responding to tenant inquiries regarding billing, security deposits, and other accounting matters.
  13. Performing monthly billing processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent vocational/technical training preferred but not required.
  • 3-5 years of previous experience in Accounts Receivable, preferably in the real estate industry.
  • Experience with MDS or comparable accounting software.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
