Job summary

Transformmn is seeking an Accounts Receivable & Grants Accountant to manage AR and grant-related financial activities at the Richfield office. The role supports budgets, invoicing, collections, and accurate payroll cost allocations across grants and contracts.

Required are at least 2 years of grant accounting experience, a BA/BS in accounting or finance, and strong Excel skills. The team emphasizes accuracy, timeliness and collaboration with funders and internal departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience in grant accounting or grant-funded contracts.
  • Strong AR knowledge across multiple revenue streams including billing and collections.
  • Excellent written and oral communication for sponsors, auditors and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with Excel and financial reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Grant/contract accounting: monitor budgets, prepare timely invoices and reports.
  • Labor cost allocations by validating ADP distributions for payroll across grants and funding sources.
  • Ensure single audit compliance by tracking expenditures and coordinating requests.
  • Program service fees: track revenue and invoice external contracts with agencies.
  • Accounts receivable: manage invoicing, payments, reconciliations, and collections.
  • Other accounting: prepare monthly recurring journal entries.

Job description

The Accounts Receivable & Grants Accountant is responsible for managing the full accounts receivable function, including billing, collections, and cash application across all revenue streams, with specialized expertise in the financial administration of sponsored grants and contracts. This position serves as a key liaison between external funders and internal departments, ensuring accurate and timely billing in compliance with grant terms, organizational policies, and applicable regulations.

  • Full-Time, 32 hours/week
  • Location: Richfield office
  • Starting pay range: $32.70 – $34.60/hour

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Grant/ Contract Accounting

  • Partner with grant program managers to monitor budgets and support timely financial reporting and reimbursement activities.
  • Prepare invoices and financial reports using grant/contract requirements to ensure they are accurate and submitted within deadlines.
  • Manage labor cost allocation adjustments by validating ADP time distributions against actual work percentages, ensuring accurate charging of payroll expenses across grants, contracts, and operational funding sources.
  • Ensure compliance with Single Audit requirements by monitoring grant expenditures, maintaining supporting documentation, and coordinating audit requests and responses.

Program Service Fees

  • Track and reconcile program service revenue, including client self-pay fees, subsidized housing income, and other program-generated revenue sources.
  • Prepare, process, and monitor invoices for external contracts, including county, state, government agencies and services fees.

Accounts Receivables

  • Manage the full accounts receivable cycle, including invoice generation, payment application, account reconciliations, and collections activities.

Other Accounting

  • Prepare monthly recurring journal entries
QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Accounting or Finance, or a related field, AND at least 2 years of professional work experience, including experience with grant accounting or grant-funded contracts; OR a combination of related education and work experience totaling 6 years
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounts receivable principles, billing practices, and collections across multiple revenue streams
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with sponsors, auditors, and internal stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; comfortable working with financial data and reporting tools
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a thorough understanding of the importance of accuracy in financial reporting
  • Proven experience building and maintaining successful customer and stakeholder relationships
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Experience with grant administration, including managing grant-funded contracts and reporting requirements
  • Flexible and adaptable when working with external partner organizations whose expectations or requirements shift frequently, maintaining a calm, courteous, and constructive approach even under pressure
