Job summary

Honolulu Freight Service in Seattle is seeking an Accounting Assistant to support Accounts Receivable and collections. In this full-time onsite role, you will monitor customer accounts, follow up on past-due invoices, and help keep records accurate.

You will collaborate with Operations, Sales, and Billing to resolve account issues, provide responsive service by phone and email, and grow your accounting knowledge in a friendly, learning-oriented team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; accounting coursework or an associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus.
• Accounts Receivable or customer service experience welcome, transferable skills with interest in learning.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Comfortable communicating with customers by phone and email.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to follow up consistently and manage multiple priorities.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support daily Accounts Receivable activities by monitoring customer accounts and outstanding balances.
• Connect with customers by phone and email regarding past-due invoices and payment status, with professionalism and respect.
• Research billing, invoice, payment, and account discrepancies with Billing and Operations to find practical solutions.
• Maintain accurate notes and documentation regarding customer communications and collection activity.
• Review customer account balances and assist with account reconciliations.
• Prepare and distribute customer statements and other account-related correspondence.
